About Calypso

Our Story

Our story begins with a patient. When a family member sought treatment outside of Pennsylvania – in a state where medical marijuana was legal – our founder, Samuel P. “Pat” Black, III, acknowledged the need to advocate for patients within the Commonwealth and to develop an alternative solution of relief. From this experience, Calypso Enterprises was created.

In July 2018, Calypso was awarded one of the 13 coveted Phase II Grower/Processor licenses through the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program. With this exciting news, construction of a 100,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility commenced. This was no easy task during the winter months in Erie; however, with the commitment, support, and exhaustive labors from our team members and partners, Calypso established its roots.

Today, we are working to create the next generation of marijuana products by continuously improving standards of operation, empowering employees, and embracing the community we serve. Through compassion, innovation and excellence, Calypso Enterprises is dedicated to providing the highest quality medical marijuana products to those in the Commonwealth who suffer from chronic conditions.

How We Grow

Our medical marijuana is the result of premium genetics, careful cultivation, precise pruning, timely trimming, and a slow-and-steady curing process—preserved by unique packaging.

Step 1: We pick the perfect strain

We select our plants from classic cultivars. This means our medical marijuana comes from specific strains of plants that produce the best aromas, flavors, and cannabinoid profiles. These superior genes help us to grow high-quality marijuana that can be used for a variety of medical conditions.

Step 2: We treat every plant like an individual

In our state-of-the-art facility, our plants receive daily hands-on attention. By harvesting smaller, select batches with a larger labor force, we are able to provide more precise care for each plant. We use environmental controls, develop specific nutrient mixes, and collect data to continually improve our process and ensure each plant grows to its maximum potential.

Step 3: We exercise patience

During the curing or extended drying process, we don’t rush. We take the time to stabilize terpenes and cannabinoids, which helps make the flower look and taste better. With tender love and care, each plant is pruned and trimmed to gather an end product that yields the highest therapeutic benefits.

Step 4: We keep it fresh

To preserve the quality of our product, we prioritize freshness. We use a unique packaging technique that helps maintain the potency, aroma, and flavor. Not only does this process support product consistency, but it also allows our product to stay fresh and ultimately provide relief that lasts.
